How to choose the right dog ?

Now the nights are getting lighter and spring is in the air we all start to think about outdoor pursuits. One such popular pursuit is dog walking, how many times have you gone for a walk on a Sunday afternoon and admired the numerous dogs that went trotting by. Which starts that age old discussion, should we get a dog?....but what colour?, what size dog?, which breed?, male or female? and list goes on and on!. Or should we visit the local dog rescue centre.

How many times have you heard the expression that a persons dog is a reflection of the owner...well probably when you look at the list of considerations below they should also apply to both the dog and the potential dog owner.

Key Considerations When Choosing A Dog:

      • Energetic and lively or couch-potato
      • Strong-willed and ambitious or easy-going
      • Friendly or reserved
      • Playful or not interested in toys or playing
      • Friendly to cats and other pets or disinterested or incompatible
      • Affectionate or aloof
To give you some further assistance in establishing what is the best breed for you I have provided the video below which gives further advice in choosing the best breed for your needs. Please let us know if it was helpful and what breed you decided on and why?
